Books. Most bookshops in Nelson now stock a wide range of gay and gay-related publications. The notable exception is Whitcoulls. Two that stand out with selection etc. are:

Churches

Almost all the churches and religions in New Zealand are represented in Nelson, with Nelson Cathedral being the best known (after all, it is one of our local landmarks).
As the Dean of the Cathedral wrote in a recent e-mail to me, "Please let it be known that gay people are most welcome at the Cathedral and that Dean Charles is available for personal consultation and advice."
The Cathedral staff are very friendly, and played a leading role in the annual International Candlelight Memorial events when we had them here in Nelson.
