For those who have older browsers and find that the above links do not work, or if the links above decide to stop working on newer browsers, all the above links are
repeated at the bottom of the page (without the fancy scripting to foul up the works).

About this site
How long has it been here?
This site started off as the home page for Spectrum (Nelson) Inc., the social and support group for gay and bi-sexual men in the greater Nelson region, on January
27, 1996. As there was such a large amount written by myself specifically for the site, in June 2000, I decided to take the plunge and re-write the entire site from the ground up as my own site, expanding on a lot of what was there, but still leaving the Spectrum (Nelson) Inc. information in place, but in its own seperate section of
the site. (At the request of the Spectrum (Nelson) Inc. committee, the archives pages were finally removed from here in March 2007.)
The re-written site, renamed "Kevin's Guide to Nelson", has been up and running from July 30th, 2000.
After being first posted in January 1996,the site was converted to Frames in January 1997, but as a lot of visitors were coming to specific pages via search engines,
and not looking anywhere else, in late 1998 it was decided to put in a navigation bar on each page, doing away with frames, in an effort to
encourage people to visit other sections of the site by letting them know what they were (the idea worked).
This change was made on February 20th 1999, when Frames were abolished completely, the site was made HTML 4 compliant throughout,
Cascading Style Sheets were introduced, and there was a major reshuffle of some sections with them being broken down into smaller files. A directory system was
also introduced for all files on the site instead of them all being in the same directory.
In early April 2002, mouseovers were introduced to the navigation bar and a text navigation section was added at the bottom of each page. The mouseovers are
designed to reduce the amount of work done by the server regarding image downloads (and give the effect that I originally wanted when I re-wrote it as my own site
in July 2000). This also has the advantage of smaller downloads, making the page appear on your screen faster.
Age restriction for this site and pornography
Because this site has sectioins of particular interest to gay and bi-sexual men, it should be noted that in New Zealand, the age for sexual consent is 16, but it could
quite well be different where you live. I strongly recommend that you have parental guidance if you are under the age of consent for where you live if you are looking
at these sections.
There is nothing intentionally put on this site of a pornographic or otherwise offensive nature, however, because sexuality is a sensitive area, and everyone's views
of pornography and offensive material differ, I know that there are bound to be one or two who are offended. It is not the aim of this site to intentionally offend.
I do acknowledge that some of the sites which have links from this one may contain pornographic or other offensive material or contain links to such sites, but I have
no control over their content. These links are included on this site because they contain helpful advice etc. which I do not have room to include and/or may be more
appropriate to the part of the world where you live.
For best viewing of this site
This site was written using Sausage Software's Hotdog Pro. It is HTML 4 compliant, with Cascading Style Sheets incorporated. (Cascading Style Sheets will be
evident if you have Netscape 4 or higher or Internet Explorer 3.1 or higher or Mozilla or most other newer browsers - but even then, not all styles may be implemented correctly by your browser.)
When the site was updated in October 2003, it was completely updated throughout using Quanta 3.0-pr1 running on Linux (SuSE 8.1 Prof. distro) and KDE 3.0.3. For
this update, the Spectrum (Nelson) Inc.) pages had a major update and the e-mail address on all pages were changed so they couldn't be read by e-mail harvesters
for those who delight in spreading spam (hopefully). Other than this, the overall look of the site reains unchanged. For various technical reasons, the site is currently being updated using the Windows XP operating system
The site has been tested (and found to work well) with the following browsers, screen resolutions and operating systems:

If you have any problems, please let me know.
My provider
My sincere thanks go to PlaNet (Nelson) [Nelson's first, and largest, locally based public Internet provider - now operating as
Tasman Solutions] as they have been very generous in supporting me in getting this site up and running from
the beginning, back in January 1996, and to Tasman Solutions for thier ongoing support.
Future plans
I aim to keep this site updated regularly when time permits - ideally monthly (but seldom possible).
I intend to gradually introduce more photos to the site, and increase the number of browsers and screen resolutions tested
I would appreciate any feedback which may help to make improvements to this site.
